🏸 A towel for the courtside bench, not the bathroom

A sports towel has one job: clear sweat from your face, neck and hands between rallies, then disappear back into the bag. The Kawasaki K1F07-D7020 is sized for exactly that — 100 × 40 cm, enough to wipe your face and neck, narrow enough to roll up and push into a side pocket.

That format also works on the bench itself: draped over the backrest it stays put and doesn't crowd your rackets. 🏸

🌿 One hundred percent cotton — a deliberate choice

The market is dominated by microfibre towels: light, quick-drying, synthetic. Kawasaki went another way, and there's a reason rooted in how the towel is used.

Cotton absorbs considerably more water than microfibre of the same area. Wiping your face between games, drying speed isn't what you need — you need the towel to lift the sweat in one pass rather than spreading it around. Cotton is also softer against facial skin and avoids the slight scratchiness microfibre can have.

The trade-off is slower drying, which I address honestly in the FAQ.

🧵 Terry weave: why the loops matter

The macro photographs show it clearly: the surface is built from densely packed loops. That's a classic terry weave, and it's what delivers the absorbency.

Every loop increases the surface area meeting the water and creates space where moisture is held. The denser and longer the loop pile, the more water the towel takes up in a single wipe. A flat, waffle or hammam weave has far less of that structure and absorbs less at the same fabric weight.

🎽 Jacquard rather than print

The motif — two crossed rackets, a shuttle and the words KAWASAKI BADMINTON — SINCE 1915 — isn't printed onto the surface. It's woven into the structure of the fabric by jacquard, formed by changing thread colour during weaving.

The difference is practical: a print wears and cracks after dozens of washes; jacquard has nothing to wear away, because it is the fabric rather than a layer on top of it. On the reverse, the same motif appears in inverted colours — white on blue.

The edges are finished with a narrow binding in the towel's own colour, protecting them from fraying.

🔄 This towel or a microfibre model?

We stock both types, and the difference is worth knowing:

K1F07-D7020 (this model) — 100% cotton, terry weave, 100 × 40 cm. Greater absorbency and a softer feel against the skin. Slower to dry. For training, matches and the club bag.

Microfibre towels — a polyester and cotton blend, 100 × 30 cm format. Lighter and quick-drying, but they absorb less and feel more synthetic.

In short: cotton for comfort, microfibre for weight and drying speed.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions – Kawasaki K1F07-D7020

📏 Is 100 × 40 cm large?
It's the standard sports towel format — longer and narrower than a bathroom towel. It covers your face, neck, hands and forearms, and rolls up small enough for a bag's side pocket. It isn't a bath towel, though — for drying off after a shower it will be too small.

💧 Does it dry quickly?
More slowly than microfibre — that's inherent to cotton. In exchange it absorbs considerably more water, which during a session matters more than drying speed. If you play several days running, hang it up when you get home rather than leaving it rolled in your bag.

🧵 How does terry differ from a flat weave?
Terry has a surface built from loops, which increase the area meeting the water and hold moisture. Flat, waffle and hammam weaves have less of that structure — they're thinner and dry faster, but lift less sweat per wipe.

🎽 Will the motif wear off in the wash?
No. The pattern is woven into the fabric by jacquard, not printed onto it. There's no layer that could crack or flake — the motif will outlast normal use entirely.

🧼 How do I wash terry to keep it soft?
Wash at 40–60°C on a cotton programme. Don't use fabric softener — counterintuitively, it reduces absorbency by coating the loops with a water-repelling layer. Instead, add half a cup of vinegar to the first wash of a new towel: it removes the factory finish and opens up the fibres. Dry it hanging freely, and don't iron it — ironing flattens the loops.

🌀 Will it shed or fray?
The edges are bound, which holds them together. With terry towels it's normal, though, for some loose fibres to come away in the first wash — that's excess from the weaving process, not a defect. It stops after two or three washes.

🎨 Which colours is this model available in?
The manufacturer offers two versions: blue (this listing) and green. Both carry the same jacquard motif and identical specifications.

💪 Is it suitable for the gym?
Yes. The 100 × 40 cm format works draped over a machine and for wiping down a bench. Cotton's absorbency is an advantage here — a gym towel works harder than a courtside one.
