The model name isn't arbitrary. The keel is the raised ridge running the length of the tape, clearly felt under the fingers once wrapped. The manufacturer designed it as a cushioning layer that absorbs and disperses the shock travelling from the frame into the hand.
Every contact with the shuttle sends some energy back up the arm. On a single shot that's nothing, but after two hours and several hundred strokes the wrist and forearm notice it clearly — especially at high string tension, which transmits shock more sharply. The raised keel structure softens that unpleasant sting and lets you hold a firm, stable grip for longer. 🏸
The pink version is one of five colours in the range, alongside black, white, yellow and blue.
🖐️ Three levels of traction
The keel handles one job; holding the racket in your hand is the other. The KEEL X-10 does that on three levels at once:
Tacky surface — a high-friction material that holds the hand even with a relaxed grip.
Embossed geometric pattern — a precise texture pressed into the surface increases friction and gives the fingers purchase.
3D keel — the same ridge that cushions also guides the fingers, making it easier to find the right hold without looking at the racket.
💧 Micro-pores instead of a slippery palm in the third game
The high-elasticity polyurethane has a micro-porous structure. Fine pores form air channels that absorb and drain sweat rather than letting it collect between palm and grip.
The difference shows up not at the start of a match but once your hand begins to sweat. An ordinary grip turns slippery at that point; a micro-porous one holds its tack, so your swing stays stable.
✨ Minimalist enough for any racket
Pastel pink with a single-colour embossed pattern is an understated finish — no bright prints, no logos shouting from the handle. It works equally well on a boldly coloured racket and on classic black.
The grip is also abrasion-resistant, holding its texture and tack longer than cheaper models that wear smooth after a handful of sessions.
🎾 Five disciplines covered
The KEEL X-10 fits badminton, tennis and squash rackets, padel rackets and pickleball paddles. If you play more than one discipline, you don't need a separate grip for each racket.
👥 Who is this grip for?
👉 Players whose wrist aches after long sessions 🛡️ — the keel layer absorbs some of the shock instead of passing it through to the hand
👉 Anyone stringing high — the tighter the string bed, the more shock the frame transmits
👉 Players with heavily sweating palms 💧 — the micro-porous structure drains moisture rather than holding it
👉 Anyone wanting to build up a slim handle ✋ — an overgrip is the simplest way to adjust grip thickness
👉 Players after a colour beyond black and white 🌸 — pastel pink in an understated finish

❓ Frequently Asked Questions – Kawasaki KEEL X-10
🛡️ What does the 3D keel actually do?
It's a raised structure running along the tape, forming perceptible ridges on the handle once wrapped. It serves two purposes at once: it absorbs and disperses shock travelling from the frame to the hand, and it guides the fingers, making the right hold easier to find. Over a long match you'll notice it mainly as less sting in the hand and forearm.
🎨 How does it differ from the other colours?
In colour only. Material, construction, keel and every property are identical across all versions. The range covers five colours: pink, blue, black, white and yellow.
🔄 How does an overgrip differ from a base grip?
A base grip is the one wrapped on at the factory — thicker, bonded along its whole length, replaced rarely. An overgrip like the KEEL X-10 is thin and goes on top of it. You replace it regularly as it loses tack, without touching the layer underneath.
✋ How much will it thicken the handle?
An overgrip increases handle circumference by roughly one grip size — turning a G6 into approximately a G5. Two layers increase it accordingly.
🔧 How often should I replace it?
Playing 2–3 times a week, replacement every 3–5 weeks is typical. The signal is simple: once the surface stops feeling tacky and starts to slip, it's time for a new one.
🌀 How do I wrap it correctly?
Start at the bottom of the handle, at the butt end. Peel off the protective film, stick down the narrow starting tab, then wind spirally upward, overlapping each turn by about a third of the previous one's width. Keep the tape lightly tensioned without stretching it hard. At the top, cut the excess at an angle and secure it with the finishing tape supplied.
🎾 Does it fit a tennis racket or a pickleball paddle?
Yes. Handle thickness varies between these disciplines, but the grip is wound spirally, so the tape length covers all of them.
📦 How many do I get?
The grip is sold individually — order exactly as many as you need. If you play regularly it's worth taking several at once.
🧼 Can the grip be washed?
No. It's a consumable — instead of washing, you simply replace it. You can wipe it with a dry cloth, but soaking will destroy the adhesive layer and the micro-porous structure.
