💛 The cheapest change you can make to your equipment

A new racket runs into the hundreds. A restring costs a fraction of that, plus a trip to the stringer. And a grip? It costs about the same as a coffee, and it changes something neither of the others can: how the racket sits in your hand.

It's the only piece of equipment you touch directly. If the handle is slippery, too slim or transmits too much shock, no frame will fix that. 🏸

The Kawasaki KEEL X-10 solves three problems at once, for a fraction of the cost of any other equipment change: it improves traction, builds the handle up by one grip size, and absorbs part of the shock heading for your wrist.

🟡 Why yellow makes sense

Yellow is the most visible colour across the spectrum — it's why warning signage uses it and why training shuttles are sometimes yellow. In a hall with mixed lighting, a racket with a yellow grip is one you'll spot in the bag or on the bench straight away, without shuffling through your kit.

That matters in club play, where a dozen similar rackets end up in the same place, and at tournaments, where equipment travels between courts. Yellow is also the natural pick if your racket has a black or navy frame — the contrast is at its strongest there.

🎯 Three things you're paying for

A secure hold 🖐️ — a triple anti-slip system: a tacky surface that holds the hand even with a relaxed grip, an embossed geometric pattern that increases friction, and a 3D keel giving the fingers purchase. The racket doesn't twist in your hand on a smash.

Less shock in the wrist 🛡️ — the 3D keel the model is named after (keel, as in a boat's hull) works as a cushioning layer. It absorbs and disperses the energy returning from the frame on every contact with the shuttle. After two hours of play, the difference is clear.

A dry palm in the third game 💧 — the micro-porous structure of the polyurethane forms air channels that absorb and drain sweat. An ordinary grip turns slippery at that point; this one keeps its tack.

On top of that, abrasion resistance keeps the embossed texture intact longer than in cheaper grips that wear smooth after a handful of sessions.

✋ Handle too slim? This is the simplest fix

Many badminton rackets come with a G6 handle from the factory — relatively slim. For a player with larger hands that means gripping the racket harder, which tires the forearm faster and dulls the feel.

An overgrip builds the handle up by roughly one grip size — turning a G6 into approximately a G5. Two layers increase it accordingly. It's a reversible solution costing a few pounds, unlike replacing the base grip or buying a racket with a different handle.

🎾 One grip, five disciplines

The KEEL X-10 fits badminton, tennis and squash rackets, padel rackets and pickleball paddles. Handle thickness varies, but the grip is wound spirally, so the tape length covers all of them.

👥 Who is this grip for?

👉 Players with larger hands ✋ — one grip size added without changing rackets

👉 Anyone hunting for their racket in a club bag 🟡 — yellow is the most visible colour there is

👉 Players with heavily sweating palms 💧 — micro-pores drain moisture rather than holding it

👉 Anyone feeling shock in the wrist 🛡️ — the keel layer absorbs part of the energy returning from the frame

👉 Multi-sport racket players 🎾 — one grip for badminton, tennis, squash, padel and pickleball

❓ Frequently Asked Questions – Kawasaki KEEL X-10

✋ How much will it thicken the handle?
By roughly one grip size — turning a G6 into approximately a G5. Two layers increase it accordingly. It's the cheapest and fully reversible way to match handle thickness to your hand.

🔄 How does an overgrip differ from a base grip?
A base grip is the one wrapped on at the factory — thicker, bonded along its whole length, replaced rarely. An overgrip like the KEEL X-10 is thin and goes on top of it. You replace it regularly as it loses tack, without touching the layer underneath.

🔧 How often should I replace it?
Playing 2–3 times a week, replacement every 3–5 weeks is typical. The signal is simple: once the surface stops feeling tacky and starts to slip, it's time for a new one.

🛡️ What does the 3D keel do?
The raised structure along the tape forms perceptible ridges once wrapped. It guides the fingers as you set your grip and absorbs some of the shock travelling from the frame into the hand. Over a long match you'll notice it as less sting in the palm and forearm.

🎨 Which colours is the KEEL X-10 available in?
Our range covers four colours: yellow, blue, pink and black. Material, construction and every property are identical across all versions — only the colour differs.

🟡 Does a yellow grip get dirty quickly?
Light colours show hand marks more clearly than dark ones — that's inherent to any pale shade. Worth remembering, though, that a grip is a consumable replaced every few weeks, so in practice it rarely survives long enough for appearance to become an issue. If keeping a fresh look for as long as possible still matters to you, go for the black version.

🎾 Does it fit a tennis racket or a pickleball paddle?
Yes. The grip is wound spirally, so the tape length covers handles of varying thickness — from slim badminton handles to thicker tennis ones.

🌀 How do I wrap it correctly?
Start at the bottom of the handle, at the butt end. Peel off the protective film, stick down the narrow starting tab, then wind spirally upward, overlapping each turn by about a third of the previous one's width. Keep the tape lightly tensioned without stretching it hard. At the top, cut the excess at an angle and secure it with the finishing tape supplied.

📦 How many do I get?
The grip is sold individually. If you play regularly it's worth ordering several at once — replacing every few weeks is a normal cycle, and ordering together saves on shipping.

🧼 Can the grip be washed?
No. It's a consumable — instead of washing, you simply replace it. You can wipe it with a dry cloth, but soaking will destroy the adhesive layer and the micro-porous structure.
